In Salekhard at the International Congress of the Arctic Media World, Governor of Yamal Dmitry Artyukhov said that there is an order in the Western media for a negative presentation of information about the situation in the Arctic. According to him, foreign journalists are paid to travel to Yamal, so that they specifically look for the negative and unscrew it.

At the Arctic Media World forum, a representative of one of the Swiss media said that in Western publications they say that the situation in the Arctic in terms of ecology is very problematic. According to her, she did not see positive references to this topic in the European and American media.

Dmitry Artyukhov said that this situation is emerging because of international competition: the interested parties are trying to undermine the authority of the Yamal sites.

I do not want to comb it all under one comb, but in some cases we see a targeted order. It is directed against the activities of enterprises in the Arctic. Negative. Of course, somewhere, there really are dissatisfied. But, believe me, today's event is aimed at allowing people to see with their own eyes what is really going on here, said Dmitry Artyukhov.

The same was confirmed by the chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia Vladimir Soloviev.

Of course, there are drawbacks, they do not need to be silent. But the Western press is now either negative or does not say anything about the Arctic. We meet with foreign colleagues at international events and talk about it. Fortunately, they understand that the situation needs to be changed, Solovyov said. +

Recall, the Arctic Mediaworld Congress takes place from 9 to 11 December in Salekhard. More than 200 journalists from different countries came to the events. Participants discuss environmental problems and the preservation of the traditions of the indigenous peoples of the North (IP).
